Post-COVID remote working and its impact on people, productivity, and the planet: an exploratory scoping review

It uses an approach of mixed methods to analyse the impact of COVID-19 in the workforce. It explores key concepts such as virtual work, teleworking, hybrid models, looking into their evolution due to the pandemic.

It also considers other perspectives such as women and caregivers, to be able to measure their productivity, well-being and societal implications.

Revitalising corporate culture in the world of hybrid work

Several methods are outlined in this article to improve corporate culture in hybrid work settings.

  1. Focusing on microculture: Encourage a broad organizational method instead of a uniform approach.
  2. Embedding culture through work: Aligning the organization´s values with the team´s goals.
  3. Promote emotional proximity: By building a good relationship and have an emotional bond.

These three points help to reduce social isolation and bad team cohesion.

Hybrid work: Making it fit with your diversity, equity, and inclusion strategy

The article uses a research-driven approach, incorporating recent studies and surveys to highlight employee preferences and the benefits of hybrid work. It also identifies key organizational practices—such as flexible policies, team-building initiatives, and fostering open dialogue—that support the success of hybrid models.

Hybrid working from home improves retention without damaging performance

The experiment took place at Trip.com in Shanghai, China. In July 2021, Trip.com decided to evaluate hybrid WFH after seeing its popularity amongst US tech firms. The company surveyed 1,612 eligible engineers, marketing and finance employees in the Airfare and IT divisions about the option of hybrid WFH. They excluded interns and rookies who were in probation periods because on-site learning and mentoring are particularly important for those individuals. The results indicated that a hybrid schedule with two days a week working from home does not damage performance.

How hybrid work is reinventing management

The article is based on research conducted with 30 managers from various organisations in France, Germany, and Denmark, both before and after the COVID-19 pandemic. This research examines how these organisations navigate the complexities of hybrid work and adjust their management practices accordingly. One key concept discussed is the “autonomy paradox,” which highlights the balance managers must strike between granting employees’ autonomy and maintaining control.

Hybrid work in Europe: Concept and practice

The methodological approach of this study was hermeneutic (the process of analysing and interpreting written text and imagery to understand the text)  and based on the combination of two main sources of information (Boell and CecezKecmanovic, 2014):

  • the available literature, which was examined to build an understanding of contemporary hybrid work
  • national-level information covering the EU27 Member States, provided by the Network of Eurofound Correspondents
